Learning game for beauty care sector students
In spring 2025, the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority published a learning game for use by educational institutions in the beauty care sector. The game allows students to learn about the use of radiation in beauty care and the duties of the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority as the supervisory authority.
The learning game published by the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK) is aimed at beauty care students, especially cosmetology students. On this page, you will find information about the game, the right to use it and related materials.

Improving radiation safety in beauty care through a learning game
The learning game allows students to learn about the use of radiation in beauty care. The topics covered by the game include the responsibilities of radiation users, the regulation of radiation use, equipment procurement, risks related to the use of radiation and STUK’s duties as a supervisory authority.
The game is divided into two parts. In the first part, the player decides to set up their own beauty salon. Along the way, the player must consider a number of important questions: what kinds of laws are there related to the use of radiation, who is responsible for the safety of radiation use and what kinds of devices can cosmetologists use when carrying out treatments? In the second part of the game, a STUK inspector arrives at the newly opened salon. The player will have to answer the inspector’s tricky questions.
The game is available in Finnish, Easy Finnish, Swedish and English.

The beauty care section of the service provides useful information on the use of radiation in beauty care. The service will be closed on 17 April 2025, but the new Tukes Kampus learning environment will open at the beginning of May. The site is currently available only in Finnish.
