Radon in other premises used by people
The municipality's health protection authority supervises compliance with the reference levels of radon in dwellings and other premises used by people (Radiation Act 859/2018, Section 15). More information Valvira - Health protection.
Other premises used by people
Other premises used by people mean spaces that are public assembly rooms or other spaces intended for long-term occupancy (Health Protection Act, Section 13 and Appendix, in Finnish). Typical such public premises are schools, churches, libraries, swimming pools and, for example, gyms that are open to all public.
The division of responsibility regarding the duty to investigate is governed by the Health Protection Act, which regulates investigating, removing and limiting of a health detriment. The municipal health protection authority supervises and instructs on matters relating to indoor radon in other premises used by people.
