Staff Report
In 2024, the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK) continued its long-term efforts to ensure staff competence and well-being. The number of employees grew by just over 3%, reaching 311 by the end of the year.
STUK is characterised by long careers, with an average length of service exceeding 15 years. High levels of job satisfaction reflect the strong engagement and well-being of the staff. This staff report presents key figures, developments and achievements of the year from the perspective of the work community.

Highlights from the Staff Report
STUK’s employer image was visibly enhanced through the publication of employee and trainee stories, as well as the Meet the Duunis photo challenge. During the year, 19 positions were filled, and the improved recruitment process received positive feedback: 82% of applicants rated the process as good or excellent.
STUK remains a popular employer among students and offers several internship and thesis opportunities each year.
STUK invests in accessible, low-threshold well-being services. Well-being at work was supported through a range of measures, including psychological coaching, cultural and sports benefits and health-related events. In addition, active leisure activities were provided via the staff association.
The job satisfaction index rose to 3.91 (national average: 3.71), and 79% of employees said they would recommend STUK as a place to work.
STUK develops the skills of its staff with a long-term perspective, addressing both the organisation’s needs and the individual goals for professional growth.
In 2024, in addition to general training provided by STUK, joint training sessions focused on topics such as workplace well-being and working life skills. Staff also attended various presentations on current topics across STUK’s different areas of activity. On average, 5.8 training days per employee were recorded during the year.
In addition, employees actively participated in a variety of online courses and in-house training events.
