Radiation safety

The goal of our operations is a radiation-safe Finland. Radiation safety is created as a result of the work of people who know their responsibilities. We work in good cooperation with other authorities, organizations and the entire surrounding society, both in Finland and internationally.

Current issues

The Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority detected a small amount of radioactive cobalt in particle samples collected from the outdoor air in Imatra in March. The concentration was so low that it posed no risk to people or the environment.

Finland’s first nuclear reactor is no longer classified as a nuclear facility.
