Working at STUK

We employ over 300 people. We are experts in many different fields, but we all work together to achieve the shared goal – radiation safety. The purpose of all our activities is to protect people, society, the environment and future generations from the harmful effects of radiation, whether natural or man-made, ionizing or non-ionizing.

We believe that the most important prerequisite for our success is competent, motivated and happy employees. Therefore, we want to offer a good workplace where our employees can develop not only their own expertise, but also the entire radiation and nuclear safety sector both in Finland and internationally.

We do meaningful work that improves safety and invest in a good work community that values everyone's work.

Our employer promise

Purpose creates happiness

Our multidisciplinary team is performing a unique job to ensure that Finland is a radiation-safe country – now and in the future. The work of each STUK employee genuinely promotes Finland's security, and our work also has an impact at the international level.
In Finnish, we have this common saying that “things are not nuclear science”. For us, it often is! But at the same time, our work is much more. The scope of our duties is broad, and success requires multidisciplinary expertise and cooperation. All STUK employees – both employees who have worked for us for decades and newcomers – play an important role in our operations as the
forerunner in nuclear safety.

Competence creates happiness

Work which aims to ensure society's security requires first-class operational capacity. The best way to ensure this is to hire the best talents and let them develop themselves and the whole industry.
We employ not only radiation and nuclear security professionals, but also dozens of professionals in other sectors. We also offer career opportunities to those who aim to work at the top levels of the industry. In addition to knowledge, our community values the ability to see alternatives and the desire to seek them. Professional colleagues as well as our customers and other partners can help us with this task.

Community creates happiness

We are an agency, but do not operate in an agency-like manner. Courage is an important value to us, and it is reflected in our working methods. Safety is our number one priority, but this does not mean that we are content to do things the way they have always been done.

We actively renew, question and develop our operations. We appreciate the fact that opinions are courageously expressed. We are a community of experts which engages itself in holding interesting discussions, sharing expertise and doing what is promised. We rely on our experts, and we believe that everyone can do their own work as they see fit. We also want to take good care of our community, which includes investing in the well-being of our employees.
